| I like the subject although it is a bit central in the frame.
There is a fair bit of noise in the darker areas and you have got to get your sensor cleaned, quite a few dust bunnies to clone out.
What format did you shoot this in Jono?
Jpeg...TIFF...RAW? |

| I liked the shape of ths too. I can easily go back and shoot again.
The conditions were not that good as it was getting rather dim.
This was shoot ig jpg format.
It is also reather a harsh crop.
I just got a new blower and swabs etc to iradicate the bunnies.

| That is why you are geting the noise Jono. Jpegs are not up to manipulation and severe cropping. Have you got software to convert RAW files? If you have usec the RAW format and convert to a TIFF to work on it. |

| cheers for the tip I will try the raw format or CR2 as canon call it?
I think Paint Shop Pro should convert but mine seems reluctant read them (cr2) in the first place?

| There might be a free RAW conversion programme online if you search for one.
I have RAWshooter essential 5, don't know if it is still available though. |

| Definitely a shot I'd want to persevere with - here's my take on what it could look like - there's some wonderful colour and texture in that wood if you dig it out a little... the noise in the background has just been blur brushed out, to give you an idea of how it'd come out: |

| I would shoot this in the landscape format and create a ripple around it (wait until it has dissipated so there is some minor movement in the water.) In the meantime try using the 'Ocean Ripple' effect which can be found in FILTERS>DISTORT>OCEAN RIPPLE. Use the lasso tool to select an area then experiment with it. I used it on Bird in Blue in the bottom lefthand corner to emphasise the reflection of the first groyne. |
