Dark Chocolate Cake
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
4 tbsp. shortening (melted)
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg - beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix together flour, sugar and cocoa. Mix water and baking soda. Beat soda mixture with flour mixture; add remaining ingredients and beat well. Pour into an 8 x 8 pan and bake at 350 for 25 - 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. When cool sprinkle with powdered sugar.
