| don't quote me on this cos they may have invented it before, but i remember them from the 70's and the big fuss they made when they first used them to cross the channel, as far as i can remember they operated on a cushion of air (under that big black rubber skirt) that made it easier for it to ride the waves and also move from sea to land not the best explaination but as simple as i could make it | |

| The Hovercraft was invented in the 1950s by Sir Christopher Cockerill and are used both commercially and by the Navy regularly. A friend of mine at school was related to Sir Chritopher on his Mums side of the family so he was well into the things. |
