A crop on the right of the first one to get rid of the excess black (unless they need it for product description/price) and that one looks OK.

The second one just does not work for me, the important item looks lost in the picture and all the red catches the eye.

Keep it simple as all the viewer is looking for, is the jewellery. Very Happy

First shot sharp and colourful - nice angle but agree with Stewart it probably needs a good crop. Nice tho.

No offence here Sharon but the second shot does not float my boat - the ring looks like an old Starship Enterprise leaving a planet that has just exploded with Scottie saying "the engines can nay take anymore captain" .....again as Stewart says the ring looks lost..... against the blurred red roses.

Best wishes John

Thanks Stewart & John, i agree with you both on both counts although on that first shot i did leave the extra space for logos pricing (whatever the client thought appropriate) they actually don't like the first shot as much, they wanted me to use the props they gave me (the flowers and a few other items) so i shot #2 with objections and they love it, go figure Rolling Eyes im kinda lost as to where to go next with this, i want to do the best job for them but they want what we consider crap. btw John i nearly peed my pants at your description some of the jewellery i've shot so far 537381

How about...using a couple of petals from the flowers for the ring to sit on. Or have the ring sitting in a rose bloom. Here's a couple of examples I borrowed (wink, wink):

No problem...

I particulary like the last one with the rose petals with the little droplets...very classy!

Oh, one more thought...make sure to polish up the ring real well before shooting...the first one looks like there is a little print on it.Wink

i think it might be scratches Terri, i wasn't too happy with that myself, but i did polish them all first so i don't think it's a print

Do you have some light colored backgrounds you could use? Maybe stear away from the black...try some white/off white???

If those are scratches...I would mention it to the jeweler, cause in this type of photography those are really going to show! They can polish them up before giving them to you.

The examples above all use lighter backgrounds...giving it a lighter, airy feel. Maybe, the black is too serious...like the first example, is more of a high key affect. Like for wedding rings, you definitely want a light look to it...wedding colors.

Like to hear that the brain is buzzing...as opposed to a buzzing in the brain!! Hope this all helps...I see more jewelry shot in white than black!
