This was the original location of Loch Doon castle, on an island in the middle of the loch, the loch waters rose when they made it into a reservoir and the castle was mostly below water so the moved as much of the original stonework to dry land, this is all that is left of the original castle

OH Ok. I just finished watching "The Tudors" on showtime, what a great time period, the castles, the clothes and the people. It's great to see where a lot of the stuff is in the real world.
