WOW Terri...absolutely STUNNING!!! How much snow did you get? we got about 7 inches, and more on the way tomorrow...unfortunately, nothing beautiful here in the tundra to photograph!!! (maybe it is lack of inspiration???)

Thanks everyone...I just love the first snow fall!! We got about 5". The kids had a blast...it was a wet snow and was warm out the next day...so, they spent the entire day outside and worked on snowmen and forts!

I keep coming back to this lovely image because there was something about that struck me as being odd. I finally figured it out. When I look at this photo you see the beautiful snow covered ground and that lovely sitting bench but it has NO snow on it and no foot prints. spooky or I am blind...

Where is this taken? I can only gather that this is a light house. But then again I didn't think Wiscounsin was near the ocean. Or his my geography totally off too? Tell us a little about this photo. It looks like it has a nice story behind it.

Totally beautiful, the lighting is incredible.

Emilie...This lighthouse is Kimberly Point in Neenah, WI on Lake Winnebago (I live about ten blocks away). There are actually a lot of lighthouses in Wisconsin...but, mainly on Lake Michigan. Lake Winnebago is connected to the Fox River...which flows from Green Bay. In earlier times, they used the waterways to transport paper (we are known as the paper valley) from the valley up to Green Bay to be shipped using the Great Lakes (Lakes Michigan, Superior, Huron, Erie & Ontario). The lighthouses are mainly used as historical markers now...and the lake for recreation.

Oh, and the reason you didn't see any snow on the bench...was because it actually rained!! Nice mix...snow and rain...yuck. By the time I went out that morning, it had stopped raining but it had warmed up quite a bit. Very wet.

Thank you Thank you for taking the time to give me some of the history behind the image. There are some images out there begging to have the story told about them because they have such wonderful history. awww never thought about the rain.

I knew you lived in Wisconsin and I figured tou lived relatively close to Lake Michigan...maybe 30-40 miles. After you posted this, I figured you must be alot closer...maybe 1-5 miles since you stated that you posted "this morning" and it was still dark !!!

So, I live about 140 miles south of you...Hi Neighbor !!!
