| Nice Still life Griz. Are these peaches? That is the only thing I can think of but isn't it late for those? I do my own canning also. I do lots of pickles, jams etc. It is a big job but it is worth it. Even Marc gets in on it

| Yes, they're peaches and it is kinda late for them, but then we're at 6600 ft so the season is later and there is a little bit of a story as well. About a month ago I was invited to a birthday party at a friends. I know them casually as I had brewed beer for mutual friend's birthday and Scott and Ellen had hosted it, Since then I get invites to their parties. Anyway I admired the peach tree in their yard and Ellen said come on over and pick all you want (the tree was loaded) but when Jean and I went, about 3 weeks ago, Scott was reluctant to let us harvest the tree so we took 1/2 a bucket and went home, Jean did some jam and we thought we were done. Then last week I got an e-mail that basically said Help, the fruit is falling and we cant give it away fast enough. So last Tuesday we went and picked about 200lbs of peaches that were so ripe they'd fall off the tree when you touched them. We canned halves, slices, jam, pie filling (that's what's in the picture) brandied slices, froze puree and slices ... And we gave away about 60lbs *lol* You're right it's a huge job, but Jeannie loves to do it and I sure don't mind the results -Griz | |
