Here is a picture of Max. I softened the picture and emphasized his face....lol I guess you could consider this a portrait of my child :-)

Thank you Jan! Max is a 12 year old English Springer Spaniel. He has very expressive features and you can usually tell he is moping. In this case, we went camping and he was tied up most of the time. He is giving us the sad eyes so that we will untie him.

Thank you very much for the positive feedback! I am working on fair pictures, and trying to figure out what to put into the domestic animal section. I only have a couple of pet shots. Is this good enough to put into the fair??

This is a great photo of your baby. I hope you don't mind. I love the softness but you need to keep the eyes sharp. So I sharpened them up and it was a wee bit flat on my monitor. Could be just my monitor although it is calibrated. So I gave it a wee boost not much.

hugs
Emilie

Emilie, it looks great......the eyes. Now how does one sharpen just one area on PSP? I would like to do so on my original.

Well the real trick is to get the focus on the eyes as you are taking the photo. Although sometimes that isn't always the way it turns out so then you need to sharpen them in ps or what ever programme you use. About 90 percent of my photos now are done with the focus on the eyes and I rarely do anything in ps with them anymore. It takes practice. I have get a lot with Liam and he is a moving target.

Ann you need to use a layer mask so that you can just sharpen or do what ever you want with the layer without affecting the orginal and then it is easy to erase back if you make a mistake.
