Last night was dress rehursal, I took this one of Shelby sitting in the auditorium waiting to go on stage........

you are definitely getting the hang of the theatre shooting Kathy, i love both of these, although #1 is a little dark it's still a great portrait of Shelby and shows her nerves before going on stage

The flash has picked up on the light from the dress by the looks of it hence the slight underexposure on Shelbys face.

Use spot metering and take the reading from her face, the rest will take care of itself.

i hope you don't mind Kathy i had a little play with the first shot and it's easily fixable, but i would go with Stewarts advice for any future shots. All i did was select shelby's skin and feathered by 10 pixels and did a levels adjustment then did the same with her hair but less on the levels adjustment

I can't add to what Sharon & Stewart have already said - I fully agree with their comments - especially setting your camera to spot metering and focus on the eyes - keep up the good work Kathy! ~ John
