don't know how i didn't see these before but, #2 appears sharper than the rest but unfortunately Shelby closed her eyes, so #3 does it for me, the eye contact is good and the focus better than #1 or #4 i also like that she has the flower in her hand in that one

Thanks for looking Sharon. I like #2 the best, with her eyes lowered it give the photo a soft serene feeling to me. Not the usual Shelby...

Kathy, your daughter has the most amazing beautiful eyes. I hope you don't mine I had a go at one of them to make those eyes pop.



Here is a close up of before and after of the eyes. If the eyes are sharp you can get away with softness with the rest of the photo. The key is to focus on the closest eye to you and the inner side near the booger cave. Then again you can always give them a pop in ps like I just did.

Emilie, how did you do that ?? That is really good !! I am a total newbie to PS, I have only dabbled at this point with CS2

It is actually fairly easy to do.

1. Just select the eyes with the lasso tool. I usually use the magnetic lasso it is easier and quicker.
Make sure you have multiply selections selected so you can do both eyes.

2. Create another layer with just the eyes by hitting ctrl C and then ctrl V.

3. The best thing to do is to use masks that way you can make changes easily if you need. Click on
the icon create new fill or adjustment layer and select the levels. Make your adjustments.

4. Do the same for curves and hue/saturation.

5. Once you have popped the colour make sure you do an unsharp mask to sharpen the eyes. You can
also use a high pass to sharpen.


Try not to over do it with the sharpening or colour pop you want to have the eyes look as realistic as possible.

As you are aware there are many ways in ps to accomplish the same end result. Do what ever you find comfortable.
